Industry Immersion Program for Faculties of Technical Institutions

IIIC offers Industry Immersion Programs (IIP) with the objective of providing appropriate exposure to current trends and practices in the infrastructure and construction industry. As a pilot program, IIP organized a six-day program for the faculties of the Civil engineering department of MoU signed 13 colleges. The program started on 22nd August 2022 and the site selected was Alappuzha-Changanassery (AC) road and Fathima bridge kollam.

AC road is one of the prestigious project carried out by ULCCS and it is being reconstructed as a semi-elevated highway at a cost of ₹649 crore. The project aims to stop the road from flooding during the monsoon season. In the project, 2.9 km of the road will be renovated using the bituminous macadam bituminous concrete (BMBC) method. Nine kilometres of the road will be restored using geogrid and geotextile encased stone columns. The project includes the construction of flyovers in locations vulnerable to severe flooding as well as the reconstruction and widening of existing bridges. Apart from these, the construction of nine causeways, 13 minor bridges, drains, ducts, retaining walls, culverts, bus shelters, and road safety features are also planned. The other site was a bridge site connecting mukkattukadavu to fathima island and to Arulappan crossing across Ashtamudi lake for a length of 259 m, connecting 30 girders.
