From the Director

A skilled population is crucial for the socio-economic development of any country worldwide. Prioritizing investments in skill development is not only a national imperative but also an economic necessity for our country. This strategic focus is essential to harness the demographic dividend arising from our status as the world’s largest youth population. Despite this significant pool of young population in India, the construction sector alone faces a demand for an additional 40 to 50 million skilled workers. Equipping our young workforce with relevant skills is the most effective pathway to bridging this gap. Our National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015, eloquently outlined a strategic vision aimed at empowering our human resources comprehensively and building their competitiveness to meet global standards.

In alignment with this national initiative, the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence (KASE) was set up under the Department of Labour and Skills. Serving as a body of the State Skill Development Mission, KASE spearheads implementing diverse skill development initiatives directed towards developing an industry-ready workforce in Kerala. The Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction (IIIC), was established under the auspices of KASE, dedicated to furthering this objective.

As the youth embark on a professional journey, I want to encourage you to seek out opportunities that can fuel your career growth through a continuous upskilling process filled with discovery, collaboration and meaningful achievements. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient construction industry. This institute is dedicated to a future where the expertise gained here can help transform past challenges into opportunities in future.
