The Southern District Regional meet of the Heads of Institutes of Engg Colleges, Poly Technics, ITIs, HSS/VHSEs was held on 8-July-2019, at Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction, an Institute administered by KASE under the Labour Ministry of Govt. of Kerala. Smt. Mercykutty Amma, Minister of Fisheries, Govt of Kerala, inaugurated the function. Principals of Govt. colleges, aided colleges, ITIs, schools, vocational higher secondary schools and heads of private educational institutions from Trivandrum, Kollam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts attended the meeting. The minister said that the objectives of IIIC to introduce students to the latest methods and tools in their respective fields and equip them with various skills required to make them employable in the job market are very effective in the prevailing condition of unemployment. Minister stated that, it is painful to note that there are only very few who are qualified with required skills for employment despite having adequate educational qualifications This is because of lack of facilities which impart good skill training. Minister mentioned that though the experienced traditional employees are good at their job, absence of a certificate from a recognised institution like IIIC is an obstacle for their career progression which in turn effects their financial growth. The Minister shared the optimism about IIIC, an innovative concept that connects academic curriculum and industrial skills. The minister said that such meetings would help disseminate information regarding IIIC, the courses offered here and employment opportunities IIIC provide, to reach students at all levels. Minister urged participants to share the details they acquired during the seminar about IIIC to be shared with all students and Parents. The fact that ULCCS, the society which manages IIIC, who ensures accuracy, integrity and efficiency in every endeavour they take up, gives more hope about this institute, Minister emphasised. Sri.
