KERALA ACADEMY FOR SKILLS EXCELLENCE (KASE), a Section 25 Company (incorporated under Section 25 Companies Act 1965) under the Department of Labour and Skills, Government of Kerala, is formed with the objective of moulding skilled and employable youth who are competent to utilize the job opportunities across the globe and thus attain a livelihood. As the skilling arena is new and the sectors are too vast to handle with the Government expertise, KASE has undertaken a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model to conduct the International skill development and employability program (iSTEP) to train and place students/job seekers. KASE as the State Skill Development Mission incorporated to pursue its main objectives to promote, establish, setup, monitor, govern and regulate institutions and academies for skills excellence for development of core employability skills, competency standards and for promoting technology that meets the demands of various industries globally.
Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction (IIIC), an academy for skill development in the infrastructure and construction sector, has been set up by KASE to tide over the acute shortage of skilled professionals. The Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction (IIIC) at Chavara, Kollam, is of International Standards with the aim of offering high end courses in Construction Engineering and Management and also providing skill training for the workforce ranging from trades including masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical to draftsman with CAD expertise, supervisor and site manager etc. IIIC would impart skill training for technical personnel like ITI certificate-holders, diploma holders and engineering graduates, and would make them readily employable in the national and international market. IIIC is not just meant for the training of lower level workers alone. Right from workers to higher managerial cadre, all levels of personnel will be moulded by the academy through its well laid down courses. Depending on the industry needs and availability of candidates, the academy shall be offering courses, especially on futuristic and high end construction practices.
